There are many things to consider when determining which type of window to have installed. We're going to share with you some of the most commonly installed window types in the modern home.

Double Hung Windows

If you look at most traditional wood windows, they only had one window that moved. Many times, the top window was completely stationary.

With double hung windows, you can move both the top and bottom windows at your leisure. This is great for situations where you're just looking to add some ventilation without blasting a cold breeze into your sitting area.

Fanlight Window

Sometimes referred to as arcs by window novices, the fanlight window can be commonly found over exterior doors. These windows help to let in some natural light while still providing you the main benefit of privacy.

Fanlight windows come in a variety of designs, from wood to lead-separating interiors. The one commonality of all fanlight windows is that they consist of an arc-like shape.

Sliding Windows

Sliders are becoming a very popular type of window installation for home remodeling. You'll find them in many kitchens, large front windows and bathrooms.

Slider windows have a stationary window and a sliding window. You can slide the sliding window over the stationary window to allow for adequate airflow. Some sliders even come with two sliding sides and a stationary middle for larger windows.

Garden Windows

As inside gardening becomes more and more popular, homeowners are looking to install garden windows. These are a type of pop-out window that is completely encased in glass panes.

At its bottom, there is a large shelf where plants and herbs can be easily stored. These windows allow for much more sunlight than traditional windows. Most will be capable of opening in the same manner as a casement window.

Casement Windows

Casement windows are easy to identify with their window crank. Instead of opening up or down, they open outward. This provides maximal ventilation for any homeowner. Casement windows are rectangular in shape and come in a variety of sizes

When it comes to remodeling your home, your windows are likely one main component that you need to plan for. As you can see, there are many popular styles of windows that you can consider to meet your individual needs.
